Garage Door Repair FAQs
Questions We Hear All the Time
Is it safe to use my garage door if it is making a grinding noise?
A grinding noise usually indicates an issue with the springs, opener gears, or track alignment. Continuing to use the door can make the damage worse and create a safety risk. We recommend stopping use and calling us to diagnose the problem before it turns into a larger repair.
How long does a typical garage door repair take?
Most repairs are completed within one to two hours, depending on the issue. Spring replacements, cable repairs, and opener fixes are all jobs our technicians handle efficiently during a single visit. We come prepared with common parts, so there is rarely a need for a second trip.
Do I need to be home during the repair?
Yes, we ask that an adult be present during the service visit. This allows us to walk you through what we find, get approval before beginning any work, and answer questions before we leave.
What’s the difference between torsion and extension springs?
Torsion springs are mounted horizontally above the door opening and use torque to lift the door. Extension springs run along the sides of the track and stretch to create a lifting force. Both can break with regular use over time, and both require professional replacement. We identify which type your system uses and replace it correctly.
